Ok basically remember the post I did yesterday, that I complained about me being unwell?
Well, yesterday I was diagnosed with thrush, which was supposed a bacteria yeast infection. I was prescribed a cream. I felt better, until I had a sudden bout of super extreme pain during a lecture. I found out that it was due to my consumption of Starbucks (caffeine is the culprit though wth all I had was a tall caramel frapp which probably only has like one shot of caffeine - more on this later).
Though by night time, I had a gut feeling that it was a misdiagnosis; I felt like it was probably a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) rather than a thrush.
Today morning, I woke up feeling perfectly alright. The previous night (ok fine, 4AM in the morning), I was panicking and was actually contemplating to go to the A&E because I found blood in my pee. However, when I woke up, I felt so alright that I thought I was completely healed.
Thank god I decided to still go to the GP. To further elaborate on the lack of efficiency of the NHS, I had 19 people in front of me lol wtf. Can you imagine me just stoning there waiting for my turn?
I was told to pee in a bottle, and not surprisingly it had a reddish tinge to it - blood. The doctor just prescribed me some antibiotics (which cost me 8 pounds, eat shit prz). At that point of time I thought everything would be alright.
But by night time, I started to feel a burn again and I felt this super extreme pain when I was peeing. Then when I was walking back, I thought I could collapse + pee any fucking time. Worked so hard holding my pee in and I felt so uncomfortable but I had no one to text so I kept spamming Jean. After tonnes and tonnes of effort, I finally made it back to my accommodation and when I got to the toilet, I threw all my stuff on the floor (dirty, I know) and I felt this huge relief (and pain) when I finally got to pee.
I took a really long hot shower and I felt really terrible, like I had to keep peeing and peeing and feeling the burn. At that point in time I was wondering why the fuck the doctor told me to drink more water when it would just make me pee (and hurt).
After a whole load of research, I am now doing water treatment. Drinking tonnes and tonnes and tonnes of water (my kettle is like working OT) and then going to pee. Took a pain killer but the pain is still there :( it hurts like shit whenever I pee but it is supposed to help to get rid of the bacteria so I am just going to do it anyway.
All that research taught me what I have been doing wrong for the past few days after getting my infection. Putting this here in case anyone in future gets that terrible feeling, so that you guys know what to avoid. No one told me; I did not know shit, and as a result, I only aggravated my condition:-
1. Caffeine
Caffeine dehydrates you (that we all know) but this dehydration just disturbs your bladder and it worsens your situation. Which is precisely why I felt worse after my consumption of Starbucks yesterday and bubble tea (yes bubble tea hehe) today.
2. Sugar
Similar effect to caffeine. I guess it was why I felt worse after my bubble tea dosage. Sigh.
3. Alcohol
Because alcohol dehydrates you more than anything else and we all know that.
I consumed all of these unhealthy things whilst having my infection - probably the reason why I am suffering so much now. It sucks to be all alone in a foreign land dealing with a condition like that, but on the bright side, if I were in SG, my mother would reprimand me and scold me and blame me for it.
Which would make me feel worse.
Which is why I would never tell her that I got a UTI in UK.
Putting down here the list of symptoms I experienced. Not that I am cursing anyone, but this may come in useful in future:
1. Change in peeing patterns. I wanted to pee a lot and the next day I did not really want to pee?
2. Something that feels very much like period cramps in the abdomen
3. The biggest telltale sign was the burning sensation that I felt when I woke up yesterday. Even if it gets better, see a doctor. (Once again, fuck you NHS for the misdiagnosis)
4. Blood in the pee. You probably cannot see it when you pee in a toilet bowl though, cause the redness would become less concentrated due to the large amount of water.
Ok that is all and I really hope that I would be alright soon. Still drinking water.... :PLabels: college, daily
