BBC Good Food Fair 2015 ❞ | Chanced upon the BBC Good Food Fair today just because I had my physio in the same building. Got in for free, without having to queue to boot! It didn't help that I literally just baked a cake a few hours before:

I couldn't sleep at night because... Well firstly I had a nap after I got home, and secondly because I thought my cake failed massively despite all the effort I put in. My cream just would not set, and I was absofuckinglutely crushed T_T I added Cream of Tartar and Gelatine in my last-ditch attempt to salvage it, and went to "bed" thinking of more solutions.
Woke up and was pleasantly surprised that it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Although the middle layer collapsed (because the cream, that did not set, was not able to "support" it), it created this very moist chocolate layer between the top and bottom layers because it absorbed the "failed" cream. Guess what? My failed cream finally set (probably after all the "special" ingredients I added), and I used it to ice the sides of the cake (and I did a very poor job of it, but I shall blame it on the lack of proper equipment :P)
Ate a bite, and could not help it but to eat an entire slice because it was AMAZING :Q
But yes, back to topic. Walked around the fair post-Physio while looking for things to buy (or rather, trying to convince myself not to buy useless things that invariably catch my eye) while waiting for *gasp* Mary Berry.
YES I GOT TO SEE MARY BERRY!

Proud of myself - I didn't buy as many things as I wanted to, which was good, especially considering my austerity issue right not (I just bought myself a new bicycle today.......). Here are some photos just because I think they'd be more interesting than my words.

Basically the idea was to create a soil profile from chocolate (+ other edible stuff). Got inspired by a Cooking with Heston video that Marcus shared with me where Heston made this edible "soil" (which was essentially chocolate).
Anyway who the hell gives a damn about what I say; just look at the bloody photos hehe:

Melting the white chocolate for the chocolate fudge rocks

Melting dark chocolate~

The AMAZING chocolate ganache

Mixing with a wooden spatula (that was wrecked) because we did not have a hand whisk
And the final product:

Top view of the soil profile

Side view- not the most brilliant photo but still, you can see the individual layers (well, sort of)
The white chocolate fudge rocks, which were absolutely awesome I swear:

Hohoho check out the cut I got on my thumb from scrubbing pots and pans haha

The inside of the chocolate fudge rocks
I am still left with so much ingredients and chocolates and what not AND I INDULGED AND I BOUGHT SO MUCH JUNK FOOD SO I HAVE LIKE SHORT BREAD AND MASHMALLOWS AND COCOPOPS (from the "bedrock") IN MY KITCHEN T____T
