Sitting at a dimsum restaurant now, paying for overpriced Chinese food. I guess I was craving for some comfort food + trying to make myself miss home less.
So far home sickness hasn't fully kicked in yet, just feel pangs of it when I am alone. Now I fully understand the whole "go clubbing just cause one is lonely" thing. I am not the only one experiencing this - my own classmates are constantly asking to go out for fear of loneliness kicking in.
Anyways the dimsum was alright - I ordered char siew bao + liu sha bao + siew mai + dumplings~ over priced though and the char siew bao tasted really suspicious. Typing this is making me feel more home sick HAHAHA but I think I am alright :)
Experienced the wonders of London clubbing these few days. The experience was AWESOME. I think this is the only place that you can club with people from all over the world - my first night I clubbed with two Austrian exchange students, a Russian girl, and a handful of Londoners.
I got to learn tips and tricks in London clubbing. Shall list them:
1. Do not try to scrimp on the cloak room. That few pounds is not worth it.
2. You can carry your bag with you, but remove your valuables. Stuff your money in your bra (I am not kidding) and everything else in the pockets and, quote 'in that secret special place', unquote.
3. If someone tries to mug you, just give the bag to them.
4. Check for cab fares on this app called Addison Lee, which gives you the time + route + prices (haven't actually used it myself though)
Shall add on to this list when I think of more.
My first night was significantly more awesome than the second, cause I was about 10x more intoxicated on the first night. I shared two pitchers, one cranberry vodka, one shot of tequila, two Jägerbombs and one and a half Skittle bombs. I was high and happy and having tonnes of fun. It was a bigger group too, and the club (KOKO) was less crammed and I had shitloads of fun! Tipsy + lacked guts to go back by myself so I splurged on a taxi that night. Damage done: 30 pounds. Fuck my life.
Second night though it was a much smaller group cause many backed out last minute :/ and I was with a lesbian couple so I felt like a third wheel :( and the place was so crammed and someone tried to touch me lol wtf. I wasn't intoxicated enough - I think I had only about 4 cranberry vodkas; and I didn't have a Russian chick to do bombs with me that night :( I guess it is a good and bad thing to have a high alcohol tolerance. It was a great experience nonetheless, got to visit the Piccadilly Institute and experienced taking a night bus. Had to walk 20 minutes alone from school though - I was scared and brisked walk all the way home.
London has been great so far, full of wonders and surprises <3 will keep this place updated!

| Friday, September 20, 2013 ◔ 11:18 PM // ✎ 0 comment(s) | ❝ Comfort Zones ❞ | So I guess I am finally starting college life :)
Went for the UCL Geographical Society event tonight - which involved going to the UCLU Phineas Bar and to the UoL Bar (whose name I forgot).
Chat with an Italian girl who picked me up at the hostel today - she was telling me about how most of the modules are not counted in the first year + the only two modules that are counted only account for 2 out of 60 credits. You basically just have to pass (40%) for all your modules. And her point basically was - GO OUT ALL NIGHT. CHILL. PLAY. RELAX.
I have never been the kind that would approach people and talk to them, and make friends... If someone came up to me I'd definitely engage them in conversation but I'd never go up to someone. I did it for the first time today; realized that when you are in your small little groups you probably would, at some point in time, get left out. And it would look stupid if you were to just stand there and stare. SO JUST GO AHEAD AND MOVE ON TO ANOTHER GROUP. BE THICK SKINNED. GO UP THERE AND SAY 'HI GUYS, MIND IF I JOIN YOU? I AM FIONA AND I AM FROM SINGAPORE." If this isn't breaking free from comfort zones, I don't know what is.
Thank god I did not bother to go for the Singapore Society events. I am glad I made it a point to socialize and make friends with others, and break out of my comfort zone I guess :)
Was concerned about having no one to go for Fresher's Week events with - and I tried Jean's trick and it worked like a charm. I was lucky enough to catch the Dutch flatmate while coming back today. And she didn't recognize me haha (probably cause I haven't been around the past few days).
She actually asked me, when I came into the door, who I was. I gave her an o.o look and replied "Erm, I live here?"
But I guess that made a good opportunity for talking. And I (as per Jean's technique), asked her if she was going for any Fresher's Events. And she asked me along (and I got tickets). YAY :D
So I guess I am glad that I am breaking free of comfort zones - I guess this is what college + studying abroad is all about isn't it? Labels: college, daily, school, thoughts

| Thursday, January 10, 2013 ◔ 3:31 PM // ✎ 0 comment(s) | ❝ Why IB? ❞ | I am writing this because I am too lazy to constantly repeat myself to many people who are interested in IB :) so here goes writing one document once and for all!
Anyways if any ACSian reads this and wants to add on to the list / correct me please do drop me a text or something and I will add your opinions in!
The point of this article is not to convince anyone to go to ACS(I), but is to allow mare to know about the IB program and what it constitutes. For example, Ganesh told me today that he regrets not going to IB and he would have gone if he had known about it four years ago. That really set me thinking - how opportunities should be given to everyone to make an informed decision. So to those who are applying to JC, please do give this a read and make your own decision. Most important advice I would ever give is to follow your heart, not your parents' dreams.
Honestly, for myself, going to ACS(I) was almost purely out of luck. I had a tough time deciding between RI(JC) and ACS(I), but it was the best decision of my life to take the IB Program.
I will start with the pros of the IB Program and ACS(I).
1. The Curriculum
IB is meant to be holistic and all-rounded. Although ACS partly fails in it, IB is an attempt in doing so. Making people take subjects from 6 specific groups (or rather, 5 for most people) ensures that everyone attains a good balance of all subjects even if the "contrasting" groups are taken at Standard Level (SL).
For example, I love how IB gave me the opportunity to pursue Physics for two more years. Despite the fact that I am only taking it at SL, it gave me an opportunity to continue loving Physics and gain a deeper understanding, an opportunity that would not have been easily given to an arts student taking the A Levels.
In other words, the IB program is meant for a science student who despite having a passion in sciences appreciates the arts; the arts student that loves the arts, but still wants to further his / her learning in the sciences.
IB gave me flexibility. I would not have been able to take both Geography and History in a regular JC without dropping my Math to a H1 (like in JJC), but I was able to take my three favoritest subjects at Higher Level (HL) in ACS(I) - Geography, History, Math. Although this is a weird ass combination, I enjoyed it thoroughly. When times were rough, my passion kept me going.
2. Friends
In this school, I made some of the closest friends of my life. Although not many, but it was good enough :) going to a different school full of strangers gives you opportunities to make new friends!
(Don't worry my dearest Nan Hua friends I still love you all hen duo hen duo ok!)
3. Band
ACS(I) band was an entirely different experience altogether. Coming to ACS(I) band allowed me to truly experience what a band was really really like. It made me feel as though I wasted my four years in band in secondary school.
ACS(I) band was full of opportunities, good experiences, wonderful music, and friends. Initially I was extremely determined to join a random CCA like drama or the environmental club, but sitting in for one band practice changed my mind, altering the trajectory of my JC life forever.
4. School Culture
Many in other schools stereotype ACSians to be condescending, arrogant and proud (do not deny!). Being in the school allowed me to understand that we have been misunderstood, and the reason why we have been misunderstood.
ACS is a place where you feel proud to be in. You love your school, the school spirit, the school activities... Sometimes you may end up sending out the wrong message (sorry to anyone that ever felt I was boasting T_T). Btw, OT but ACS is more famous overseas than RI(JC). JSYK :)
5. Opportunities
Going on an overseas school trip? Check.
Performing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium? Check.
Going overseas for competitions? Check.
Branded instruments in band? Check.
Hot water showers in school? Check.
Cons :( Life is not always perfect and I will do my best to give a balanced account of my life in ACS(I)!
1. The big difference in school culture
Let's just say that my journey assimilating into the AC culture was not a smooth one. I had a terrible culture shock, and it took me a lot of pain to adjust to it. I would think that my personality changed in the process - I became a lot less convivial and a lot less sociable and outspoken. Not an entirely good thing.
Though I still think I act like my old crazy self in front of the NH kiddos :)
The different types of people from a plethora of schools (actually, not really a plethora since the bulk of the students are from a few main schools) took me a while to understand and make friends with them. To the extent that I felt that for the early part of my first year I was mocked? It all got better though, when I finally found true friends :)
I'd like to see this pain as part of a learning experience I guess. Not an entirely pleasant one, but an important lesson.
2. No one else understands IB!
Going into IB pretty much means that you can only complain about it to people who are taking IB because everyone else, including your parents, will not be able to understand :(
This also means getting resources for IB is a huge pain.
3. IAs and EE and TOK and all the random shit that we have to do
Probably the most painful part of IB - is to spend weekends chionging out an IA and ensuring that it is done to perfection. EE will be terrible if your mentor is a bitch. IOC? Remembering 30 odd commentaries when you are only tested for one. The list goes on.
The sort of shit you go through as part and parcel of your IB life that makes it a living hell.
And all these on top of studying / doing your homework / CCA / etc etc etc.
I remember I was still doing my Geography IA when I was supposed to be studying for MYEs. And how I had n things at the same time - SIBF, music exams, IOC... I was so burdened I broke down on the bus and cried my eyes out cause I felt like I could not breathe anymore. The shit you have to deal with in IB.
Still currently adding on to the list! :) please do not hesitate to ask if you need more information alright? Email's changzhuoqunfiona@gmail.com~ text me if you have my number :D

Today marks the last day of my Common Test papers. I'm really glad it has come to an end. It was so draining on so many levels; mentally, physically... Its impact was the most apparent yesterday night, where I just practically crashed for 8+ hours just cause I didn't drink a sip of coffee (too tired, forgot, etc.).
Sigh. I'm so tired of studying and shit really really shagged I just want this to be over soon and I can finally breathe properly.
I can safely say that I tried to study this time. Although I haven't been 100% efficient (like who can, in all honesty) and I've had my fair share of slacking and wasting my time... But I did put in effort. And I really hope it pays off.
I just want the whole shitting IB to be over soon. But what's up behind it is probably worse I guess. Cram school for 2 months. Best part of it is that I'd be living in a monastery-like lifestyle so maybe that'd bring greater efficiency.
Curse me for being so bloody stupid that I have no choice.
I wish I were a genius that didn't have to study for shit. Sigh.
In other news, this is prolly one of the last few emails I'd be sending with this phone (or maybe the last?). Changing to a new phone after my paper. Tomorrow's plan'd be 1) Early Morning cramming 2) Geography Paper 3) Thread my gross eyebrows 4) Get phone 5) Clean up house for Sheryl :D~
#np JS & HyunA - Troublemaker
Right now I just want to survive my last Common Test paper in my life (I think?) With no regrets.
Looking forward to post-exam fun :) maybe band will be awesome, hopefully. Don't want my last FOA to come though...

Happier days.
And so we finally broke camp and now I am waiting for my father to pick me up after band camp and all.
Many many regrets this band camp. Really glad that I have friends who constantly are willing to talk to me like Elroy, Nath, Peter, Munam etc but like most of the time I feel lonelier than ever I guess. Sucks even more that everyone is attached and everyone is with their boyfriends and everything it's always just me. Alone. In my room. It's a really sad feeling I'd be throwing tantrums but I have a feeling that I have kinda grown out of it already. Maturity? Or is it just me giving up and like not giving a shit anymore.
Life goes on.
I miss the good old days, those moments that I feel as though like these friends that I meet here will be my friends for life. There were even times where I felt as though I have found my soulmate. But the person that I thought I found doesn't seem to want to talk to me much anymore. Either it's that or it is... We have kind of lost the energy to talk to each other. I don't know.
Right now I feel this super emptiness but I know I have to move on I guess. Yes, I had good moments in this camp, awesome times and great laughter... But I just felt that it could have been better and I feel as though... This doesn't cut it for the last band camp of my life.
But there's nothing I can do I guess. This IS the last band camp of my life. I guess I just have to treasure it as it is. And I still feel this insane sadness and pity and... I don't know.Labels: daily, school

I am back. Life is finally winding down after so so so long and I can finally breathe I guess.
Most of my IAs are done except for Geography. Life's good I guess.
HEEE the photo is of the skirts I ordered from G-Market. I am a weedle bit disappointed though cause they aren't exactly the most flattering of skirts. And I am sad to have shitty thighs and shitty hips I can wear anything that's nice, and that includes jeans.
And my diet plan always doesn't really work for some reason and it's not as though I can everyday :( but it's alright cause~~~ I think imma run 2.4km for fun tomorrow! Although my ankle is not fully recovered, it can still work and I guess I have little or no trouble running :)
And I love running cause running gives me the best feeling ever :)
And I cannot wait to look forward to the sleepover this weekend and band camp! Fyeah ^^
And... I finished Heartstrings recently and it was pretty good. Definitely cannot beat the awesomeness of Secret Garden but it is probably somewhere at the top. Shall do a review of it soon :)
I wonder if anyone still reads this space.Labels: daily, school

Hi :) I just realized how insanely convenient it is for me to edit my photos on my iPad and then post them up on to my blog directly. Awesome stuff.
Anyways, went for the rugby finals today. Proud of my school that won I guess and it was the first time I watched a rugby match. Ever. It started off really boring and dry. It was so bad that I found my history textbook more entertaining. But it got better, I guess :)
But yes. Stupid History test tomorrow that I don't know how to study for.
And I am so fucking tired of trying to live up to expectations.
In other news, seeing that queen bitch for my World Literature tomorrow, hope I don't die.
Meh.
Oh and btw #justsaying I noticed a cute guy today well I have always known of his presence and thought of him as okayly cute but today I thought he was really cute teehee but I don't know his name. Wish I did though.Labels: daily, school

But yes.
Next week: German IB paper; TOK Essay; World Lit.
I am fucking screwed.
In other news, looking forward to stuff after hell's over:
1. Titanic in 3D with Jean <3 font="">3>
2. Lihui's Dramafest
3. Mandy's band concert
4. Band camp
5. Hwa Chong band concert

Wonder why some girls are so popular with guys. What makes them ~that~ attractive that it seems as though EVERY guy is attracted to them.
10% jealousy, 90% IDGAF about guys anymore cause most of them are useless / piss me off half the time. I guess I've outgrown that whole stage?
In other news, German T_T doesn't help that I'm fucking inundated with other shit, the likes of tests and TOK and what not.
I know I initially complained about having a TOK partner but I feel blessed to have a hardworking partner that kind of forces me to do work now (he makes me feel bad if I don't). So I guess. It's good la.
Wish me luck for German T________T

And today I donated blood again. And I cannot help but remember what happened on the same day this yea. I can remember it in so much detail......
I went to donate blood and uhuh coincidentally met Evelyn but she could not meet the weight criteria and she started stuffing water down in hope to be able to do so. And then while donating blood I met Sheryl :) And at that point in time we weren't even close at all. We kind of barely knew each other.
And after school we (Sheryl, Evelyn, Soomin and I) went out to buy skirts for Founder's Day. With Emmanuel, Azriel and Mingjie :D and accidentally ditched Xavier (*oops*) and Mingjie and I were desperately trying to placate him by saying how crappy that outing was :P
And yes went home with Azriel and Mingjie~ and texted Azriel on my journey home.
Fond memories of a year ago... Nowadays we don't even go out anymore and definitely not somewhere as far as IMM. Probably everyone's too busy? I don't know...... Le sigh.
But anyways today apart from the not-so-awesome donation, I love my friends for being there for me. Wijaya, who kinda lied that he hasn't donated blood in the last 15 weeks and went with me to donate; and meeting my awesome OG-mates of Hadi and Johandy there; and my awesome OG-mate Nick who said that he'd cover my eyes when they put the needle in so I would not be scared; and of course Nath who constantly talked to me and distracted me from the pain; and last but not least, Guanzhen and Eddy who kept making fun of me so that I'd laugh, saying things like "Don't Cry, Don't Cry" and pretending to cry hahaha <3 font="" nbsp="">3>
Love the awesome friends that I actually have in this school, albeit the minute number. But of course, give thanks and treasure what you have :) <3>3>Labels: daily, friends, school, thoughts

Omedetou, here's to the start of an insane two years (or three)~
Reminds me of last year... I guess I was kinda excited for school only to be disappointed by the way people... Well, did a perfunctory judgement of me. And I was reallyyy lonely last year I called Eunice during my recess to talk to her and after school I called Lihui :P thank you super muchies to the two of you for being there for me :') teehee.
But yes reminds me of when I told Lihui that "SHAUN TAN IS SOO CUTE" and I HAD to have an OGmate on the same bus and she thought I was referring to the Shaun Tan in my OG @.@ kinda. Awkward.
And yeah I thank OG12 for the awesome OG days :) love you all~ ^^ I guess although I hated the first few days it turned out to be alright.
And I am really really glad that I ended up in the same OG as Emmanuel. Fate? No idea~
But yeah I hope the new people going to whichever school they are going to (k this sounds super broken and crappy) will have an awesome orientation~ may you all not hate your OGs.
I hope that there will be handsome guys and pretty girls coming into my school :)
In other news, I hate being a girl.

| Saturday, January 14, 2012 ◔ 5:28 PM // ✎ 0 comment(s) | ❝ Day of Firsts :) ❞ | And once again I drop by to do a simple post on my not-so-interesting life.
Today was a day of firsts. Wonderful day of firsts I'd say.
1) I played percussion for the first time today. Together with Mingjie, Xavier and Elroy, I was transferred to the Percussion section! We called it "volunteering our services to the percussion section". It was really fun - learning something new and feeling that drive, that rush to work hard and perfect the art of playing the instrument well. My arms and fingers hurt afterwards and I realized how it isn't all that easy being in Percussion. You have to keep your own rhythm while the band is playing something else at the same time. On the plus side, we got praised by FTan! (It may have been sarcasm though cause I was at the back of the band room and I couldn't hear clearly / see his facial expressions) but yes. He said "you all don't sound like you're playing percussion for the first time". And everyone else said we were not bad :)
2) Today was the first time I got allocated to something that was some-what a solo. It is an accompaniment though so it's ~not counted~. For WISH! Just the chords on the marimba. It's just cause every percussion instrument is a solo instrument anyway. I hope I don't screw up :(
3) Took the first set of data for my Geography EE! It was really fun I guess but extremely time consuming. Sigh. And it's raining now I wanna go out and get data since I actually have some time this weekend.
4) Did my first assessed IA. It was a bitch. I'm so mentally drained right now all thanks to it ): screw you, IB.
Like Xavier said today that he'd rather move to percussion permanently cause at least what one plays is heard unlike flute, where we practise like fuck for the running notes and what not and in the end we cannot be heard. I guess it's true and it made me really think. THINK. About whether I want to transfer to percussion permanently. The percussion is a fun section and like... But. I don't know T____T right now though, I will fully enjoy myself during this stint I have with the Percussion section :)
In other news, Beach Cleaning tomorrow :D
Time and again I tell myself that no, I don't like you anymore. And time and again I get affected by you, even if it's the slightest stuff.
It's so warm and humid now and my legs are hurting :(

HI.
I decided to come here just cause I have no where else to rant to, so bear with me.
I don't know but... My results were pretty FMLish. Although I guess I have no right to complain? Seeing that I have friends who have trouble even promoting (Letian + Varun all the best guys, you will be fine!) and like... Jovi who scored a point higher than me at MYEs got the same score as me this time.
Albeit the fact most people jumped up to 10 points...
And I plummeted into this abyss of darkness. It feels like shit to be the only people "deproving" when everyone else improved.
It feels worse, when people improved and scored super high for EOYs and it's freaking 70%. And it pulls their MYEs up.
While for me it's the opposite.
MYEs please save my fucking ass. I pray that your 30% will go far.
It feels worse, though, cause... The more you expect the harder you fall? I was so bent on doing well, and when I did not my world fell apart.
I guess I shouldn't find excuses for myself, but at the end of the day I still cannot figure out what fucking went wrong, basically everything that went wrong just went wrong, all that could have happened happened.
And to make things even shittier... Well most of my scores were 1 mark away from the next grade. The grade boundary is 70, I get 69 and what not, etc etc. Sucks balls.
Sorry to all Christians out there, but I fucking hate ACS for imposing Christianity on us, on me, who has lost faith in faith. Apparently if I did write about God being the "ultimate creator" the "ultimate scientist" who created the world from nothing or what the fuck (i.e. the Book of Genesis), I'd have gotten 20/25. Thank goodness I did not fail, cause if Christianity and God caused me to fail English, I'd have raged a whole fucking lot more.
It's quite sad though, I failed in all my targets and expectations and what not. So much for lunar birthday luck huh.
Did a bit of retail therapy to cheer me up though, busted shit loads of money on this when I still have $100+ worth of phone bills to pay.
And to think that that humongous sum was due to someone......
In other news, a gigantic THANK YOU to everyone who cared and gave me words of concern and hugs and etc. Love you all. Labels: daily, rants, school

My blog revival effort has been dampened by... Well either a not working memory card reader or a not working memory card. Meh. I took the pains to dig out my DSLR and then when I plug into the computer they tell me that I need to reformat and then I can't reformat WTF. Help please? (:
On another note, I AM FINALLY LIBERATED! Oh yeah :D spent the time lunching with the Bandies and talking about our awesome future ^^ and then I chionged home and went out with Klinsen~ DRANK GONG CHA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE. Sorry but KOI I still love you the most :D
Came home 20+ bucks poorer. Bought cute paper and stickers from Kinokuniya. What's new? Nevermind shall spend my time tonight writing notes for the Bandies ^^
This week will be an awesomely funfilled week before IB Hell kicks back in again. Imma go back to NH tomorrow (I think) and then meet the Bandies for K-Box after the Chemistry paper. Thursday will be K-Box again (HEY WE HAVE TO TRAIN FOR OUR FUTURE OK) and then Class Outing with the Nine-rs :D

There will be no photos this time I guess since I'm on my iPad.
Life sucks at the moment. This week marks the start of my intense mugging for my MYEs and that sucks cause my holidays just officially started on Saturday. IB fucking sucks, but no complaints cas... I guess I kinda chose this path myself? I frequently think to myself and wonder how different life would have been if I didn't choose this path and went for A Levels instead. For a start, I wouldnt have to tear my hair out for English assignments and the like (oh and btw coming to IB has really made me seen how much I fucking hate Literature); but then again if I didn't come to IB I wouldn't have met the awesome band people.
TBH the bandies are the ones that make my Pre-U life bearable, they are the ones that keep me going (: especially during the period of Math Portfolio. Thanks Evelyn, Soomin, Peter, Nath and Azriel for tanking with me. Thanks Shaun for constantly helping us. Thank you the other SL Math people for bearing with us (especially me) for our bad tempers and etc. And thank you, to Mingjie and Xavier for that bag of sweets on the day I submitted my Math Port - easily made my day.
I wonder whether all this pain I am going through in IB will be worth it in the end...
On another note. NH people I miss you guys to bits ): our spamming on Plurk last night really made me miss you all and think of our good memories. You people are truly irreplaceable, there's no one else that will watch be truly spazz over really retarded shit and don't secretly laugh at me or something haha! Thanks guys love you all to bits! Though I don't think I will be able to go for Likium's housewarming tomorrow, HOW ): you guys go on and have fun k! Really, really, really miss you all to bits.Labels: daily, friends, school
